Real Estate Law

Real estate law encompasses the purchase and sale of real property, meaning land and any structures on it. It also covers legal issues related to anything attached to the property or structures, such as appliances and fixtures.

The main legal property rights are the right of possession, the right of control, the right of exclusion, the right to derive income, and the right of disposition. There are exceptions to these rights, and property owners have obligations as well as rights. Real estate law covers the ownership and use of land in any given transaction, and isn’t too far removed from some of the principles used in property law. It’s a branch of law which refers to the possession and usage of land, and the way in which that land is utilized.
